Performing for a rapt crowd, The Civil Wars put on a hauntingly beautiful performance at the Pageant. This show sold out nearly two full months before the show, which should give one an idea about the level of anticipation that was packed into the unusually hush house before the duo took the stage.
With the simplest of stage treatments and no more than Joy Williams, John Paul White and couple guitars within arm’s reach on stage, this show was nonetheless a treat for fans – and this music photographer. (more…)
I’ve caught Machine Head a couple times, most recently at the big stage of Mayhem Fest, so I was curious to see how they’d tackle the smaller stage of Pop’s. Curious, not doubting, because naturally they crushed it. This show was a headbanger. (more…)

Here’s a quick look at Jack’s Mannequin’s last night show at The Pageant. While Jack’s Mannequin is of course a full band, Andrew McMahon steals the show every single time I’ve shot the group (which is easily 5 times in as many years), and this gig was no exception.
Suicide Silence is a band that I was first introduced to when they opened up for Megadeth a couple years ago. Since then, I had the pleasure of catching them on Mayhem Fest 2011, and was again impressed by their energy and stage presence. So when I heard that they were opening for Machine Head, I was even more excited about the bill. Machine Head alone would have been excellent – Suicide Silence pushed this one over the top. (more…)
