Aside from the D2x, 17-55, and 70-200, I’ve decided to leave the rest of my gear. But I’m taking the Nikon 85mm f/1.4, if only for Cat Power and Yoko Ono. And possibly Neko Case. After the images the fast telephoto delivered for Morrissey, I’m convinced it may be valuable in the twilight hours when those artists perform.
During last year’s performance, the second to last acts of the night received uninspired lighting that made even f/2.8 glass look a little slow, so I’m going to hedge my bets and bring along the 85mm. I’ll be posting a report on what worked this year and what didn’t. For comparison, last year I only took the two big zooms and the D2x, so the prime is the new addition.
