Led by Billy Howerdel of A Perfect Circle fame, Ashes Divide laid down a fiery set on the main stage of Projekt Revolution. Following the Street Drum Corps, the band launched into a heavy, epic set of rock that proved to be just what fans needed.
With a big, atmospheric production, the stage treatment was the compliment to the band’s driving sound. Ashes Divide is currently touring in support of their 2008 release, Keep Telling Myself It’s Alright.

Photographer’s Notes:
Due to an incredibly thick treatment of smoke and deep color washes, this gig was a very interesting challenge. One initial response to this was to go wide on many of the shots, which gradually gave way to tighter shots as the lighting and smoke calmed down.

Hey Jessie, thanks for the comment. That shot you mention with the guitar was made at the apex of the hairwhip, I think.
Stay tuned for the LP shots.
Ah-ha! I’m finally caught up on your sets — and still very excited. Every photo and set I see of your encourages and pumps me up to get out and shoot more, more, more. I agree with you on the choice of 14-24, I think it really worked out and gave some stellar photos. Case in point is shot 2: Really enjoy the angle, especially with the lines from the grates leading in. [Hmm.. I thought there were more from the 14-24, but your "extra" stuff isn't showing up at the bottom right now when I refreshed the page...]. I think the 24-70 really shines in this set, too; 6, 7, and 9 are amazing. Also enjoy 5 from the longer tele range. I love smoke in the photos, but can agree that sometimes when it is used too strong it can be more of a hindrance.
Looking forward to the sets to come!

Hey Chris, thanks for your thoughts on this set, and for your picks. This was an interesting set to shoot, due to the lighting, no doubt. The 14-24 saw a lot of use, even though this was the set during which it was dropped.
