Supporting Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach, and Sick Puppies, hard rockers Brookroyal opened up the evening with a big show for the Scottrade Center.

Photographer’s Notes:
This was the standard first three, no flash, though I think I could have easily photographed these guys for the full set, as there was plenty of activity on stage to keep me occupied and enough challenge in the lighting to make it interesting.
Surprisingly, Brookroyal opened up with a pretty decent lighting treatment that even through in some splashes of white light – something any music photographer can appreciate. All too often, washes of red, orange, and blue dominate the first act of the night, so I was pleased to see these hometown boys get a solid lightshow.
Of course, I should note that the quantity of light was a little low for this set, and I found myself letting shutter speeds slide a bit to brighten up the scene and push the atmosphere into a direction I wanted.
I used the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 for the majority of this performance.

Nice work bud. Love the close ups of the drummer. Are they cropped 200mm images?
Thanks for the comment – the drum kit was relatively close, so the 70-200mm took care of drummer David Brown no problem.
I love when arena shows get kicked off properly. @Brookroyal kicking ass before Breaking Benjamin, Papa Roach: http://bit.ly/8rnQYS
