Fancy-pants Nikon DSLR: $3000. Ultra-wide, fat-bodied zoom lens: $1800. Dave King of Flogging Molly flicking you off at 14mm? Priceless.
As always, Flogging Molly put on a hell of a show tonight. The full set is coming up soon, but this one was too funny not to post immediately. In the meantime, check out photos from the band’s 2009 tour here: Flogging Molly @ the Pageant.

Hell. Yes.
There are advantages to the Pageant’s 5-foot stage. This is one of them.
Awesome.
Thanks, Lucia – nice to hear from you here. This show was a lot of fun – full set coming up soon.
Wow. I wish musicians would flick me off when I take pictures of them.
It’s a blessing and a curse, what can I say.
these guys are a blast to see perform live, I can only imagine the fun it would be to get a few shots off. Awesome capture with Dave, hopefully you got out before the entire place turned into a pit
Hey Z,
Yes, Flogging Molly are one of those bands concert photographers love – tons of action on stage, great poses, and, at least for this show, pretty decent lights (though there’s no frontlighting in this shot).
There was a barricade, so I was all set – three and out.
You make Neil Zlozower proud with this capture. He made a book of rock and roll portraits appropriately titled “Fück Yöu” the catch was that all the artists were flicking him off at some point or another. Cool work you should check it out it’s a fun book although it has a lot of big hair 80′s metal but its ok just watch off for the excessive Aqua Net usage and the prancing poodles.
Hey Karlo,
As they say, sometimes actions speak louder than words. Thanks for the kind words, I’ve seen mention of that Zlozower book and will have to check it out.

Two birds to the lens are always better than one combat boot.
Very true. I’ll take the birds over boots any day.
Ha Ha, a stance I am used to when requesting photo passes.
It’s usually the promoter though, not the band members.
Looking forward to the full set!
Ha, thanks, Steve.

Hahaha…great shot Todd. Love these guys!
Hey Kevin, thanks for the comment. I was looking forward to photographing this concert and Flogging Molly did not disappoint.
Todd,
Thanks…I figured you had already probably answered this. Feel like kind of a goon for not using the search feature. As a web designer/developer I should probably know better :( hahaha.
Cheers,
K
No sweat, Kevin. There are a lot of posts that I’d like to pull up in the tutorial/Q&A series.
I love this shot! Not only is he flipping you off, he’s also dancing a jig! Freakin’ priceless!
Hey Eric,
Yeah, the dancing was just a bonus. I’ll take it.
Nice shot todd can’t wait to see the rest man
Hey Corey, thanks. Coming up soon.
What did you do to deserve the twin birds? Ha.

I'm not a fan of Flogging Molly, but this is a very cool photo http://tinyurl.com/y884uea (by @toddowyoung)
@arabwel Although, as the photo I linked to a moment ago shows (http://tinyurl.com/y884uea) maybe that's not a bad thing! (lol)
