Performing on the second night of The Bamboozle, indie rock darlings MGMT rocked the main stage with a chilled out set of shimmering, psychedelic pop. After first photographing MGMT back in 2007 opening for Of Montreal, it was a little surreal to see these guys on the big stage of The Bamboozle playing to a sea of fans.
For me, the lighting for MGMT’s set was one of the real stars on the stage, with lots of atmospheric elements and dramatic backlighting.
The band members of MGMT don’t move around a tremendous amount, so the varied lighting was perfect for their set. Due to the stage setup, the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 were perfect on full-frame for covering this performance.
