Drummer Stevie Palmer, foreground, and guitarist Kris Kovacs, laying into it with British rockers Deluka at Crest Fest 2010.
With a prime spot at Brooklyn’s Crest Fest, British rockers Deluka rocked the stage with a warmly received set that saw the US debut of their new bassist, Robbie G. I was spending the weekend with the Deluka crew before a promotional shoot to share the festivities. The full set from their Crest Fest performance after the jump.
Photographer’s Notes:
Big shout out to Deluka – they put on a heck of a set that had the crowd moving, even in the warm weather. This was a short set, but still plenty fun to shoot.
The sun was setting behind Manhattan just as the band was playing, so there was a warm glow in the sky and surrounding buildings while the band played in open shade.
After talking with the band’s manager before the show, we agreed to supplement the available light with a little artificial lighting. I used speedlights to provide a little visual pop for this outdoor set, just to push the images out of the more ordinary.

End Notes:
Big thanks to the band and crew – stay tuned for the full set of promotional band portraits we shot with Deluka, coming up! In the meantime, check out their new video, “Cascade,” here:

Hey Ian,
Thanks for the kind words. I’m really hoping Deluka strike it big with the new album – really good stuff from what I’ve heard. All of the band is still working really hard in NYC now – I’m pulling for them. Thanks again for the comment, Ian.

Dude,
I love your work. Found your site ‘surfing’. Ideas that I know I will use this year. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge.
Hey Phillip,
Thanks for the comment, glad you found the site. Happy to share what I can.
Epic shots Todd. You’re quite the artist. I love your site too. It’s so 2.0. Looking forward to checking out the promo shots you did for the band.
They’re absolutely the coolest group of Brits. Looking forward to plotting their progress. Luckily I had a chance to watch them up close and personal, say like 2 feet in front of me, in a room the size of a living room at a party on Wednesday night.
Cheers…
Ed
Hey Ed,
Thanks very much for the kind words on the images and site. The promos are coming up soon – just as soon as they’re approved by the band. Still waiting to hear back on their final selects, but we did a couple different looks.
And yes, Deluka are really a nice group of folks, which makes it all the better. They’re working insanely hard, too. Looking forward to having them finish the new album and for the next push.
Todd!
Thanks for the speedy response. Curious what you created your site with? WordPress? Did you do it yourself? Also, your tutorials are awesome. Totally cool of you to drop the knowledge like that.
Best,
Ed
Hi Ed, I used WordPress and did the design, yes. Thanks!
