The iHeartRadio Music Festival is an annual favorite gig for me to shoot. I've shot this gig since 2012, and it has been such a privilege for me to do so. It's literally like shooting a year's worth of arena gigs in a single weekend, with the kind of lineup that only iHeartRadio can put together.
The 2017 festival included stars Pink, Coldplay, 30 Seconds to Mars, DJ Khaled, Niall Horan, The Weeknd, Chris Stapleton, David Guetta, Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, Thomas Rhett, Kesha, Kings of Leon, Big Sean — and my person favorite — Lorde.
All in all, it's just an amazing opportunity to photograph an amazing lineup of back to back talent like this. I never take this job for granted and am so thankful to get asked back year after year.

For this gig, the 24-70mm and 70-200mm were my go-to lenses — no real surprises here, as these two lenses will take care of just about anything you need. The 14-24mm and 300mm came in handy for those edge case images, where you just need a little something different to bring home the image. When Jared Leto of 30 Seconds to Mars went into the crowd, the crop factor of the D500 combined with the reach of the Nikon 300mm f/4 was perfect to make a tight frame, even though he was on the other side of the arena.
