June 11, 2008 – Bathed in an epic amount of lush fog and deep color washes, UK’s Switches laid down a set of buzzy, danceable jams on the 2008 Nylon Tour, including singles “Lay Down The Law” and “Drama Queen.”

December 17, 2008 – When the lights came up, all eyes were on Scott Weiland, the man in the thin, sharp suit.


Gojira

December 8, 2008 – With precision drumming, technical riffs, and enough breakdowns to sink your battleship, France’s death metal kings Gojira stormed the stage like a 60,000-ton reptile.


In Flames

December 8, 2008 – In their headlining performance at The Pageant, melodic death metal pioneers In Flames brought the sonic devastation to the stage with harmonized guitars, heavy beats, and vehement vocals.


Secondhand Serenade

November 14, 2008 – Following Cute Is What We Aim For‘s energetic set, Secondhand Serenade closed out the night with a rocking, heartfelt set that had the ladies swooning.


Portraits: Dir en grey

November 23, 2008 – Just before they took the stage, I caught up with Japanese rockers Dir en grey for a quick portrait session. Despite a brisk chill in the air and even a little rain, the guys were a bunch of troopers and we knocked it out.

November 16, 2008 – Supporting Rise Against, post-hardcore rockers Thrice laid into smoldering performance amid a stage of deep color washes and kaleidoscopic backlighting.


Sammy Hagar

November 19, 2009 – In a raucous, celebratory performance, Sammy Hagar electrified fans with a set fitting of an American rock icon with 40 years of work experience kicking ass and taking names. When the Red Rocker hit the stage, he brought Cabo Wabo with him: it was party time.


Metallica

November 17, 2008 – Welcome to Crushville, population 15,000. Playing well into their third decade, Metalllica brought the pummel-fest as the World Magentic Tour came to the big house of the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.


Cute Is What We Aim For

November 14, 2008 – Co-headlining with Secondhand Serenade, Cute Is What We Aim For stormed the stage in an high energy, pop punk throwdown. Led by frontman Shaant Hacikyan, the band delivered fan-favorites like “Curse Of Curves” and “Practice Makes Perfect” that had the sweat flying, both on-stage and off.


Rise Against

November 16, 2008 – Led by the indefatigable Tim McIlrath, Rise Against stormed the stage of the Pageant to deliver a blistering performance amid explosions of light and a legion of fans, fists raised, singing back every word.


Underoath

November 2, 2008 – Following performances by The Devil Wears Prada and Saosin that left the stage raw and bleeding, Underoath came out to deliver the final blow of metalcore mayhem.
