Aaron Lewis, frontman of the rock group Staind, performing on his Solo & Acoustic tour at the Pageant. While lighting was quite low on Lewis, a combination of VR and fast f/1.4 made the most out of this treatment.

With a fix shooting position, very low light, and an all-seated acoustic set by the Magnetic Fields, I had my work cut out for me in conditions that had even the Nikon D3 nearly maxed out.

Brendon Urie

In a rare acoustic set, Brendon Urie of Panic at the Disco fame treated fans to an intimate performance opening for Fall Out Boy as a part of the (RED)Nights concert series.

The Swell Season @ the Pageant — 2008.05.06

Taking the stage alone to low lights and warm applause, Glen Hansard picked up his worn Takamine, walked to the edge of the stage, and unassumingly set the evening’s intimate tone in its opening bars.

Hayden @ the Pageant — 2008.04.12

Opening for Feist in a sold-out performance, singer-songwriter and fellow Canadian Hayden crafted a quietly insistent set accompanied by a deep palette of reds, blues, and purples.

Jose Gonzalez @ Graham Chapel — 2008.03.19

As the quiet Swede sits down and begins pluck the first, slow notes, a reverential silence settles over the crowd, and the chapel venue seems entirely perfect.
