I’m just going to come out and say it. Avenged Sevenfold’s lighting is horrible to photograph. What’s more sweet than one guitarist playing at the front of the stage, one foot up on the speaker monitor? Two guitarists, one right-handed, the other left-handed, each with a leg up on a monitor, mirrored in perfect, hard rock harmony. It’s kind of a beautiful thing.

California-based group Operator brought a dose of hard rock to the Pageant in support of Avenged Sevenfold. Led by singer and sometimes actor Johnny Strong with guitarwork by former Puddle of Mudd member Paul Phillips, Operator was a tough shoot, the lighting of which foreshadowed the setup to come.
