Preview: Dillinger Escape Plan @ Terminal 5

While the set as a whole was over the top – which is saying a lot of Dillinger Escape Plan – one of the true highlights was seeing the band’s original vocalist, Dimitri Minakakis, take the stage at the end of the set to close out the show. Greg Puciato and the band are intense enough, [...]

The Dillinger Escape Plan are one of my favorite bands to photograph. Show after show, they prove themselves on the stage as one of the best live acts on the planet. And not through an elaborate stage production, but seemingly through a force of will to pretty much annihilate themselves on stage every single night. [...]

Quick preview from tonight’s show with the Dillinger Escape Plan. These guys are one the most difficult bands to photograph live, but they’re also one of my favorite concert subjects. For all the strobes and impossible stage lighting they use, the energy they bring to the stage is immense – not just sometimes, but every [...]

I’ll be frank: The Dillinger Escape Plan are probably the only band that may actually elicit fear from me as I wait for them to take the stage. I’ve shot DEP several times now, and, simply put, their show is a visceral assault on the senses.

Opening for The Dillinger Escape Plan, Washingon D.C.-based Animals As Leaders put on a virtuoso performance of progressive metal. No words, just the instrumental beatdown.

Washington DC’s Darkest Hour brought a pummeling set of metal opening for The Dillinger Escape Plan. Paradoxically playing under the brightest lights of the night, this five-piece was a blast to photograph with the wide-angle.

The Dillinger Escape Plan

I don’t think it really matters what kind of music you listen to, this fact remains: The Dillinger Escape Plan put on one of the most kinetic and enthralling shows out there. While they’ve calmed down since their days of fire-breathing and pyrotechnics, DEP’s live show is still nothing short of a spectacle to behold.

The Dillinger Escape Plan: Portaits

I caught up with the guys of The Dillinger Escape Plan on their 2009 tour for a quick portrait shoot. With my newly built DIY beauty dish and two trusty assistants, we banged it out Strobist-style.

Every Time I Die @ the Pageant — 2008.01.26

Opening for Killswitch Engage and Dillinger Escape Plan, Buffalo’s Every Time I Die laid down a tight set of their signature blend of metalcore and Southern metal at the Pageant.

The Dillinger Escape Plan @ the Pageant — 2008.01.26

Greg Puciato and the rest of The Dillinger Escape Plan take the stage calmly enough, but seconds into their set, we’re being crushed by an assault of hyper-technical riffs, complex time-signatures, and the end-is-here urgency of the hulking frontman’s vehement vocals.
