Screen shot 2010-08-02 at 11.57.44 AM

Do you have a bucket list? Chuck Berry, the father of rock ‘n roll, was on mine up until last weekend. Still rocking at 83-years young, Chuck Berry was a pleasure and an honor to photograph. And not only photograph him, but to do so for the legend’s entire 45-minute set. Hail! Hail! Rock ‘n’ [...]

A Rocket To The Moon

One shot of A Rocket To The Moon’s Nick Santino, performing with his band on the Love Drunk Tour with Cobra Starship and Boys Like Girls.

Mayhem Fest: All Access

My credentials (and a few souvenirs) from Mayhem Fest 2009. I’m back from Mayhem Fest, but the work is just starting. I’ll be working on the deliverables into the wee hours of the morning, but here’s a snap of the passes from the event.

Andrew Bird

March 15, 2009 – Sometimes, it’s the smallest movements that require the most care. Not the sonorous, sweeping notes of old spruce and strings, but the tics, taps, and whistles that will propel a song, rolling from one bar to the next. This is the sort of music where shoes are not allowed.

Preview: Andrew Bird

March 15, 2009 – Here’s one shot from Andrew Bird’s sold out show at the Pageant last night. As always, Bird put on a fantastic show, but his annual performance always has special meaning for me as a photographer.

One From Lil Wayne

Here’s one from Lil Wayne, AKA Weezy F. Baby, Birdman Jr., Mr. Carter, Stunna Jr., during his performance at the Chaifetz Arena.

Sick Puppies

In a frenetic, high-energy performance, Australian rock trio Sick Puppies delivered a thrashing set that had the barricade heaving as the crowd sang along and pumped their fists into the air.

DragonForce @ Mayhem Fest

Taking the stage after Mastodon, Britain’s DragonForce picked up the metal hammer and took it into the stratosphere with soaring vocals, blazing guitar solos, and epic amounts of hair.

Devotchka @ the Pageant — 2008.05.23

Propelled by the syncopated, asthmatic breath of an accordion, the song gimbals and gyres, wheeling like the robes of a dervish.

Basia Bulat @ Terminal 5 — 2008.05.20

In a set that ranged between soulful pop and lilting, vibrato-tinged folk, Ontario’s Basia Bulat ripped though a spirited and undeniably charming performance opening for Devotchka at Terminal 5 in NYC.

The Swell Season @ the Pageant — 2008.05.06

Taking the stage alone to low lights and warm applause, Glen Hansard picked up his worn Takamine, walked to the edge of the stage, and unassumingly set the evening’s intimate tone in its opening bars.

Hayden @ the Pageant — 2008.04.12

Opening for Feist in a sold-out performance, singer-songwriter and fellow Canadian Hayden crafted a quietly insistent set accompanied by a deep palette of reds, blues, and purples.

Killswitch Engage @ the Pageant — 2008.01.29

The Pageant is packed with kids wearing black t-shirts who all want three things: face-melting riffs, pummeling double-bass, and a guitarist who isn’t afraid to wear a cape. Headlining four performances and following Dillinger Escape Plan, Killswitch Engage delivered on all accounts with a heavy dose of melodic metal that had the pit heaving.

The Hush Sound @ the Pageant — 2007.12.27

If it weren’t for their short set, and early start time, one might think The Hush Sound were headlining at the Pageant December 27. Opening for Ludo in a sold out event, The Hush Sound packed the house with a legion of their own dedicated fans, who sang along with every note of the youthful [...]
