Preview: Tim Convy of Ludo

Concert Photos: Ludo @ the Pageant

Just a quick preview from Ludo's show at the Pageant last night, with Tim Convy mugging for the audience. Tim is one of the nicest guys in the business, lays down a mean Moog line, and is always fun to photograph.

I made this shot with the Nikon D3 and Nikon 50mm f/1.4 at ISO 3200. The lighting for this show was relatively dim, though what it lacked in frontlighting it made up for with haze over the stage.

When he's not rocking ou on the keys, Tim is always engaging the crowd to the left of his setup. I knew that one image I wanted from this show was a shot of Tim playing it up for the audience.

Given the lighting situation, I twisted on the little 50mm and for this image, shot at around f/1.6 and 1/125.

More photos from Ludo's show coming up soon, so stay tuned!

My Camera DSLR and Lenses for Concert Photography

Nikon Z 7:
I use two Nikon Z 7 for my live music photography. A true do-it-all mirrorless camera with amazing AF, great speed and fantastic resolution.

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8S:
The 24-70mm is my go-to lens. The range is ideal for stage front photography and the image quality is superb.

Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR:
A perfect pair to the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, I can basically shoot any job with the midrange and this lens. Superb image quality.

Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8:
Ultra-wide perspective, ridiculously sharp even wide open at f/2.8. I love using this lens up-close and personal, where it excels.
