Photographer's Notes:

Having just photographed Fall Out Boy on their (RED)Nights performance, I had a good idea of what to expect for their opening slot with Blink-182.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the lighting for this show was richer than that club show, with lots of interplay and atmospherics by contrast to that earlier show.

The band members themselves seemed to kick up the energy level just a tad this time as well – maybe that's just the effect of an amphitheater, or perhaps they felt a little more rested. Regardless of the cause, Fall Out Boy's fun performance was a nice appetizer before Blink's set.

Lenses:

I shot this set primarily with the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8, and they were just about perfect for this concert. Compared to Blink-182, Fall Out Boy certainly had more gear cluttering up the stage, with lights, monitors, and so forth, in addition to the ego risers for Joe Trohman and Pete Wentz.

Lighting:

The lighting for this show was pretty good – spotlights on the performers for most of the first three songs, but with plenty of cuts to more dramatic lighting, with blasts of colored light from the back of the stage.
