Under blooming backlights and a stage covered in haze, Denver four-piece Meese rocked the Pageant in support of Ludo on the Broken Bride tour.

Photographer's Notes:

This was the first set I photographed of the night, and Meese was a nice way to kick off the night, followed by Ha Ha Tonka and Ludo. Overall, Meese put on a great, lively set that was the perfect way to ease into the night for this music photographer.

The band was actually the only one of the four bands on the bill who seemed to have some of their own dedicated lighting, so kudos to them for that. These lights took the form of a few LED fixtures at the back of the stage and also at the front, the latter acting as  uplights. As for the house lights and effects, there was lots of backlighting to compliment the uplights.

I shot this one at ISO 3200 and f/2.8 for the vast majority of the images, with shutter speed hovering at 1/100 and just a hair above.

While the D3 offers best-in-class performance at high ISO, this is just one of those situations where I'm willing to sacrifice a little shutter speed for lower ISO. I could have bumped up the ISO to 6400 for a stop more of shutter speed, but 3200 was great for this set.

End Notes:

Stay tuned from the rest of the images from Ludo and Ha Ha Tonka, coming up.
