Cage the Elephant – if you haven't seen these guys live, do yourself a favor and check them out. I came away really impressed by the energy of the band, especially from singer Matthew Shultz and his frantic movements over the stage.

Photographer's Notes:

Cameras Used:

  • Nikon D3
  • Nikon D700

Lenses Used:

This show was nuts. Between the dim and spastic lighting to singer Matthew Shultz's own kinetic energy, everything in this show was a moving target. Want a challenge? Photograph Cage the Elephant.

For lenses, I mainly shot with the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 and the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8, though I even pulled out the primes on occasion when the light really dropped.

Due to the circumstances, for a show like this, I find that everything is relative. Image sharpness, motion blur, lighting, and preferences for grain/noise are no longer static constraints.
