Every single Dillinger Escape Plan show I've seen has been pretty much 100% insane. As I've said before, these guys put on one of the best live show on the planet. That's not hyperbole, that's just a fact.

Dillinger do something on stage that not everyone will appreciate and perhaps fewer will actually enjoy. But there's an undeniable quality in the band's cacophony of mercurial brutality and technical chops, something so visceral that at in the moment when Dillinger is on stage, anything less just doesn't feel like living.

Photographer's Notes:

Cameras Used:

  • Nikon D3
  • Nikon D700

Lenses Used:

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Dillinger Escape Plan are basically one of the most difficult live bands to photograph. Maybe the most difficult.

Generally speaking, shooting The Dillinger Escape Plan is the photographic equivalent of a greased pig contest. Except instead of one pig, there are five of them. And they're not pigs, they're pissed off bears.

Dillinger Escape Plan at Terminal 5 was no different. At one point in the pit I turned to my brother Chris, who was also shooting, and just shook my head. Even after having photographed these guys just a week before on the tour, not to mention something like half a dozen times before, this shoot was brutal and punishing. And I loved every second of it.

If you haven't seen the shots from the previous show at Pop's, you hit them here.

End Notes:

Big shout out to the whole crew of Dillinger and especially Jess for setting me up and making me feel welcome for this big show at Terminal 5. Can't wait for the next headlining tour.
