Low light for openers Sleeper Agent before Cage The Elephant? No problem – just grab some primes.

Photographer's Notes:

Cameras Used:

  • Nikon D3
  • Nikon D700

Lenses Used:

I'm constantly amazed at the low light that an f/1.4 prime and ISO 3200 will open up. For most dimly lit bands, there isn't too much that high ISO and a fast aperture won't help fix. And if you still can't shoot a band at f/1.3 and ISO 3200, then that just begs the question of whether the light is even worth shooting in the first place.

Relatively speaking, the one great thing about Sleeper Agent's stage treatment is that there was a good amount of white-ish light during the third and final song of the shoot. Together with a nice, colorful mix from the back, I was really pleasantly surprised by how photogenic this set ended up being.
