Tegan & Sara put out some great music and have some fantastically devoted fans, so I was really excited for their show at the Pageant on their Heartthrob tour. The lighting designer gods has other plans, however—we did the best we could with the red and blue lighting that dominated the first three songs for this one. To all the Tegan & Sara fans out there, hope you enjoy the photos regardless!

This show was a world of hurt! The first song was lit with light blue LEDS—thankfully not anything super intensely monochromatic, so it was possible to make the band not look completely like Smurfs. Unfortunately, the second and third songs were pretty much entirely lit by red LEDs, so those were pretty much a wash (sorry, I couldn't resist).

Lighting aside, I will say that the Nikon D800 continues to satisfy me when it comes to live music photography. It makes huge, ridiculously overly detailed files for any sort of event photography, but I continue to reach for it these days. I can't help but think that one day I might want to monstrously large prints one day. Call me greedy.
