Helping break in the newly renovated Peabody Opera House properly, Widespread Panic played an sprawling, epic set that had their fans dancing in the aisles from the first song until the last.

Even though this was an unconventional shoot due to the shooting position, the band's fantastic light show and the gorgeous venue made this a memorable shoot.

In terms of atmosphere, this show was amazing to photograph. Seeing the Peabody lit up with the tour's multi-colored treatment was a treat in itself, and one not lost on the audience.

Photographing the band itself was a different story. Again, photography at this new venue was restricted to the sides of the venue, but thankful there was just a little more access, with shooting up to the back of the orchestra pit permitted. Still not ideal when the whole house is on their feet and dancing, but an improvement nonetheless. Besides, I can't really complain when a band's light show fills up a venue like the Peabody Opera House.

I knew this going into the show, so I made an extra effort to shoot additional details and atmosphere. In the end, I think it made for a really great shoot and I was happy to focus on atmosphere more than the band for this gig.
