Recap: The Nikon Booth at CES 2019

CES 2019 is in the books! I had a really phenomenal time with my Nikon family this past week in Las Vegas. It's always such a special experience to spend time with my other Nikon Ambassadors, as well as all the other talented and inspiring photographers who are part of the Nikon family.

I had the opportunity to speak twice at CES for Nikon, first on a panel with rock photographers Robert M. Knight and Jenn Devereaux, moderated by my friend and fellow music photographer Michael Corrado. This was  super fun panel, and the 45 minutes really flew by. Immediately after the panel, I did a solo talk titled, “Music Photography: Low Light, All Access.” Massive thank you to Nikon USA for having me out for this show and letting me share my work!

My part of the program was contained to the second day of CES, but thanks to a red eye back to NYC, I was able to catch the third day of the show in it's entirety. It was a pleasure to see so many amazing panels and solo talk, touching on just about every kind of photography imaginable. The sheer variety of the programming was impressive, and a testament to the whole Nikon team.

The new Nikon Z series of full-frame mirrorless cameras was on prominent display and receiving a ton of interest from show attendees. For me, it was super fun to play with the new 14-30mm f/4 Z Nikkor, a new addition to the S line of full-frame lenses for the Z 7 and Z 6.

In addition, Nikon was promoting the upcoming firmware updates for the Z series, which will bring RAW video support, CFexpress compatibility, and Eye AF to the Z 7 and Z 6. Any one of these would be pretty amazing as a stand alone update, but the fact that Nikon is bring all of these to this first generation of full-frame mirrorless cameras is unprecedented. Traditionally, firmware updates have been used to address minor bugs and performance enhancements — it's pretty unusual to bring entirely new functionality to a product. For me personally, these upcoming updates really point to giving users the best possible support and Nikon's commitment to bringing the best mirrorless cameras to market.

Here are some snaps from my time at CES 2019 at the Nikon USA booth.
