Sick Puppies

Sick Puppies

One thing I like about photographing three-piece bands? It keeps things simple. But just because Sick Puppies have a minimum of members, one should never underestimate their intensity.

Opening up for Breaking Benjamin and Papa Roach, Australia's Sick Puppies came in with the crushing live show that's built them such a dedicated following.

Photographer's Notes:

This show was easily the most challenging set of the night to photograph, not only for the very dim lighting, but also for Sick Puppies' supreme intensity on-stage.

Between Mark Goodwin wailing away on drums to Emma Anzai's ferocious slap bass style and Shimon Moore's vehement delivery on vocals and guitar, the band put on a great show that was a blast to photograph. With three songs, the time flew by.

Due to to the six-foot stage and the band being relatively set back from the front of the stage, I relied on the 24-70mm and 70-200mm for this performance. The Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8 stayed in my bag.
