Your Camera is a Passport

Your camera isn’t a tool for making pictures — it’s a passport. It’s a vehicle to meet new people, visit new places, and see with new eyes. Photography is an invitation to participate in this world. More than the images I’ve made, I’m thankful for the people I’ve met, the friendships I’ve made, and the experiences I’ve had with a camera in my hand.

The lead image here is an image made with  pre-production model of the Nikon Z 7 full-frame mirrorless camera.

This past week, I was extremely humbled to be included in the launch of the Nikon Z series of full-frame mirrorless cameras in NYC. The launch event included nearly every single Ambassador for Nikon USA, as well as those from Canada. The amount of talent in this group is enough to leave me in awe. To be honest, it's hard to believe that I'm a part of this rarified group.

This is all to say: I would have never dreamed that photography could give me the gifts and experiences that it has. At one point, I was just a fan with a camera who went to a show.

To all the photographers out there dreaming of something more, I would say this. More is possible than you even dare let yourself imagine. Share your passion.
