Lil Wayne: One From The Show

Lil Wayne @ the Chaifetz Arena -- 2009.01.08

January 8, 2009 – Here's one shot from Lil Wayne's performance tonight at the Chaifetz Arena – my first gig of the new year.

This was a soundboard shoot in essence. I say in essence, because I actually shot just in front of the soundboard, which did help a good deal in closing the gap between the distant stage and my 200-400mm f/4.

I should add that there is absolutely zero post processing for this image other than downsizing and sharpening at web resolution. The vignetting on the purple wash is 100% as shot.

I expect to have the full set from Lil Wayne's set soon, as well as images from opening acts T-Pain, Keyshia Cole, Gym Class Heroes, and Keri Hilson.

Here's to the start of what I hope will be a great year!

My Camera DSLR and Lenses for Concert Photography

Nikon Z 7:
I use two Nikon Z 7 for my live music photography. A true do-it-all mirrorless camera with amazing AF, great speed and fantastic resolution.

Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8S:
The 24-70mm is my go-to lens. The range is ideal for stage front photography and the image quality is superb.

Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR:
A perfect pair to the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8, I can basically shoot any job with the midrange and this lens. Superb image quality.

Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8:
Ultra-wide perspective, ridiculously sharp even wide open at f/2.8. I love using this lens up-close and personal, where it excels.
